This SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality course helps you understand how the industry works, learn about some of the best and most exciting employment opportunities, and develop practical skills to make you job-ready. You will learn how to make the right decisions and work independently in commonplace work situations.

Course overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks using practical skills and basic industry knowledge. They work under direct supervision.

To be awarded the SIT30616 Certificate III in Hospitality, 15 units must be completed.

Food Safety:

SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety
SITXFSA002 – Participate in safe food handling practices

Workplace Health and Safety:

SITXWHS001 – Participate in safe work practices
SITHFAB002 – Provide responsible service of alcohol
SITHFAB005 – Prepare and serve espresso coffee

Hospitality Environment:

BSBWOR203 – Work effectively with others
SITHIND002 – Source and use information on the hospitality industry
SITHIND004 – Work effectively in hospitality service
BSBCMM201 – Communicate in the workplace
SITXCOM002 – Show social and cultural sensitivity

Teams:

SITXHRM001 – Coach others in job skills
BSBITU306 – Design and produce business documents

Sales and Customer Service:

SITXFIN001 – Process financial transactions
SITXCCS006 – Provide service to customers
SITXCCS002 – Provide visitor information

Electives may be designed to serve the needs and goals of the individual or business.

There are no prerequisite units for this program.

Participants are required to be competent in written and spoken English. Participants will undertake a learning, language/literacy and numeracy (LLN) review prior to enrolment as part of the pre-training review. Any LLN requirements will be addressed in the pre-training review.

Certificate III in Hospitality will take approximately 12 months to complete
